The best option for exotics lovers!
Kamchatka is one of the most popular corners of our country; here, nature is incredibly beautiful, it is possible to discover a real ocean, active volcanoes and wild animals.
The territory of the region consists of the Kamchatka peninsula which is adjacent to it to the north of the continent, Karaginsky Island and the Commander Islands. The west coast of the peninsula is bathed by the Sea of Okhotsk, the east – by the Pacific Ocean. The capital of the region is the city of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, where lives more than half of the population of Kamchatka.
Here you can fish, observe the animals in their natural habitat and finally see the ocean – powerful, mysterious and endless. Familiarity with the Aboriginal peoples of the North, their ancient culture and traditions will be interesting and instructive. The photos of travelers strike with their expressiveness, but it is better to see this unique land with your own eyes, so do not hesitate to go to Kamchatka!
Make a good choice
Seafood is one of the attractions of Kamchatka. Red caviar, goldfish and crabmeat form the basis of a tourist’s diet and take up most of the suitcase on the way back. Local residents recommend drinking salty specialties with sweet tea, they say, that it’s better. Well, for those who love meat, each restaurant in Kamchatka offers venison dishes – exotic for tourists, but fairly traditional for locals.
Wild animals
About 20,000 bears live in the forests and reserves of Kamchatka. Many sources write that they are not at all dangerous, eat only fish and berries and are not at all interested in people. Maybe there is some truth to this, but you should always be on your guard with wild animals, so be sure to take a stadium whistle and a special pepper spray with you when you go. If you are staying in a hotel outside of the city, you may receive this equipment during your trip. Anyway it is prohibited to try to get their attention. On the contrary, you should try to go unnoticed. But along the way, you will surely meet other much more harmless animals, for example foxes and hares, who are not at all afraid of people and are in no hurry to leave the road even when they meet a car.
Activities in Kamchatka
In the ocean, you will see how sea animals frolic in the waves: the agile seals swim closer to the coast, and a little further – the large sea lions of Steller sea lions. It is in the fall that marine animals begin their migration, so they often catch the eye. Usually in September, whales with orcas passing near the peninsula while tourist boat trips have not yet ended the season, it is worth going into open waters and observing these magnificent creatures.
A trip to Kamchatka is the best choice for lovers of outdoor activities. Here it is particularly diverse.
Typically, water sports are associated with the warm ocean, but in Kamchatka you can try surfing. Granted, it will require a good combination, plank and dexterity, but even if you don’t have any of that, there is a school by the beach where they will help you and provide you with everything you need. Do not be afraid that the water is cold: good equipment will not let you freeze, and the emotions of the ocean and fur seals swimming very close will prevail over all concerns. We surf in Kamchatka all year round, although in the cold this entertainment becomes very extreme.
Some peaks are covered with snow all year round, so the ski season doesn’t end there.
Of course, you cannot come to Kamchatka and not climb the top of the volcano. These tours can take several days, during which travelers will take scenic trails and stay overnight in tents. Or, conversely, go down the river by kayak or inflatable boat, stopping along the way to fish.
